“Mesh” is a measurement of particle size, often used in determining the particle-size distribution of a granular material.

Mesh Size: The Mesh Size Grade, of a selected sieve screen, corresponds to the number of openings (holes) per square inch, in that sieving screen.

A 100 mesh screen, has 100 openings in each square inch of surface area.
Higher mesh numbers mean finer screens with smaller openings, while lower mesh numbers mean coarser screens with larger openings.

The Mesh size “Grade” of a chosen sieve screen, will determine the maximum particle size for any metal powder quantity, that is processed using the selected sieve screen.

In food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic applications, a products mean particle size, along with it’s particle size distribution, has a strong and direct impact on a multitude of product characteristics & properties (such
as texture, reflectiveness, and dissolution rate, just to name a few) thereby product particle size choices and/or refinement, are likely to have as big an impact, regarding the consumer’s experience with the product, going from before to after, any product alteration were implimented.
